LG Manoj Sinha flags off first batch of Amarnath Yatra from Jammu

Jammu, July 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday flagged off the first batch of pilgrims for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu, marking the formal commencement of the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor described the Amarnath Yatra as a profound spiritual journey that symbolises unwavering faith and devotion to Lord Shiva.

“The sacred journey to the holy abode of Baba Barfani begins. Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is a profound spiritual awakening. Every step taken on this holy path is a testament to unwavering faith and surrender to Baba Amarnath,” Sinha said.

He wished all pilgrims a safe, blissful and spiritually fulfilling journey, praying that Lord Shiva bless everyone.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of India’s most revered Hindu pilgrimages, attracting thousands of devotees from across the country every year. Pilgrims undertake the journey to the cave shrine, situated at an altitude of about 3,880 metres, through the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district or the shorter Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

Authorities have put in place elaborate security, medical and logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
