Jammu, Jul 24: Hundreds of litres of drinking water are being wasted every hour due to a major leak in a primary supply pipeline near NH-44 in Jammu’s Nagrota area, with residents demanding urgent intervention by the Jal Shakti Department to avert potential water shortages.
The continuous leakage has raised concerns among local residents, who fear that if the issue is not addressed immediately, it could lead to water shortages in the coming days. With water being one of the most essential resources for daily life, such large-scale wastage is a matter of serious concern.
Residents have urged the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, now functioning under the Jal Shakti Department, to take immediate notice of the leakage and carry out urgent repairs to prevent further loss of drinking water. They stressed that every drop of water is precious, especially during the summer and monsoon seasons when demand remains high.
Locals have appealed to the concerned authorities to repair the damaged pipeline at the earliest and ensure that the precious drinking water meant for the people of Jammu is not wasted. Prompt action, they said, will help prevent unnecessary water loss and avoid any disruption in the city’s water supply.
