Banihal, Jul 28: A 65-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle near the Lamber Toll Plaza along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Banihal on Tuesday, officials said.
The injured has been identified as Abdul Rashid, son of Gh. Nabi Wani, a resident of Asher, Banihal.
Officials said the accident occurred when an Innova vehicle bearing registration number JK-03M/3693 allegedly struck the pedestrian. He was immediately shifted to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal.
They said doctors at SDH Banihal found that the victim had suffered a severe head injury and a fracture in his left leg. He was provided emergency treatment and stabilised as per standard medical protocol.
Considering the seriousness of his condition and the need for specialised care, doctors referred him to Government Medical College, Anantnag, for advanced treatment and further management.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.
