Rajnath Singh urges students to follow Ambedkar’s path of constitutional change

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday urged students to follow Dr BR Ambedkar’s mantra of “Educate, Agitate and Organise” by acquiring knowledge, questioning injustice through constitutional means and uniting for democratic change.

Addressing the convocation ceremony of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Lucknow, Rajnath Singh said Ambedkar had made it clear that social and economic objectives must be pursued through constitutional methods.

He warned against violence, anarchy and unconstitutional means, describing them as the “grammar of anarchy”.

Rajnath Singh said universities must develop young minds grounded in justice, equality, liberty and fraternity, while education should equip students not only with knowledge and practical skills but also with values and sensitivity towards society.

He urged the youth to become job creators, problem-solvers and agents of change, stressing the need for continuous learning and adaptability amid rapid technological advances.

Calling for collective efforts under “Team India”, Rajnath Singh urged students to contribute to the goal of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He highlighted India’s progress in areas including semiconductors, digital infrastructure, start-ups, manufacturing and space technology.

Rajnath Singh also said India’s development should not be measured only by economic growth, but also by its cultural confidence and civilisational heritage. He said the spirit of “Believe in India” was behind the success of “Make in India”.
