Ramban, Aug 29: Train services between Budgam and Katra resumed on Saturday, August 29, providing relief to passengers travelling between the Kashmir Valley and Katra, official sources said.
According to officials, Train No. 04688 (Budgam–Katra) and Train No. 04687 (Katra–Budgam) have been restored and will operate as per the revised schedule. However, the services will remain suspended every Sunday.
The resumption is expected to strengthen rail connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region, particularly for passengers travelling between Budgam, other parts of the Valley and Katra.
The services are also likely to benefit commuters, students, employees, visitors and pilgrims by providing an additional mode of transportation between the two regions.
The development assumes significance as rail connectivity has emerged as an important link between Kashmir and the Jammu region, facilitating passenger movement and reducing dependence on road transport.
Officials advised passengers to check the latest railway timetable and operational status before planning their journeys, particularly when travelling on Sundays, when the services will remain suspended.
The restoration of the Budgam–Katra services is expected to facilitate smoother movement of passengers between the Valley and Katra and further strengthen rail connectivity between the two regions.
