In a significant action against illegal possession of arms, the Police on Sunday stated to have apprehended an accused during routine patrolling in Narwal area in Jammu outskirts.
During routine patrolling by the Police Party led by in-charge Police Post Narwal at Malik Market, Narwal, opposite Shopper Stop, the team noticed a person moving under suspicious circumstances.
On being approached and subjected to checking, one pistol along with one toka (sharp-edged weapon) was recovered from his possession.
The accused was immediately taken into custody and arrested in accordance with law. The recovered weapons have been seized as per prescribed procedure.
In this regard, a case under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the illegal weapons and the accused’s possible involvement in other criminal activities. Further investigation is underway.
