The 43rd anniversary of celebrated Sufi poet Ahad Zargar was observed on Sunday at Narwara, Srinagar, with great reverence and enthusiasm. People from all walks of life, including scholars, poets, and admirers of Sufi literature, attended the function to pay tribute to his enduring legacy.
Eminent Sufi singers, as per a statement, presented soulful renditions of Ahad Zargar’s kalam, paying musical homage to his mystical verses.
The event commemorated the life, literary legacy, and remarkable contribution of Ahad Zargar, one of Kashmir’s most revered Sufi poets and literary figures, whose poetry, spiritual thought, and profound understanding of Kashmiri culture continue to resonate deeply with generations of Kashmiris.
The Kashmir Gulukar Society, along with the Ahad Zargar Memorial Research Foundation and Resh Wair Gulokar Society, took an active part in organizing the function. Members of the poet’s family, along with literary figures and cultural activists, were present to mark the occasion.
The massive gathering underscored the continuing relevance of Ahad Zargar’s mystical poetry in preserving Kashmir’s rich Sufi cultural ethos.
The Ahad Zargar Memorial Research Foundation has registered its displeasure over the lack of support extended to the function by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
