New Delhi, Sep 16: India on Wednesday rejected the so-called Pakistan-China Boundary Joint Commission, asserting that it had no legal basis and that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were integral and inalienable parts of the country.
Responding to media queries, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India’s position on the matter was “clear and consistent” and maintained that there was no boundary between Pakistan and China.
“We reject the so-called Joint Commission, which is without any legal basis,” Jaiswal said.
He said Pakistan had no locus standi to enter into arrangements concerning Indian territory under its “illegal and forcible occupation”.
Jaiswal reiterated that India had never recognised the so-called 1963 China-Pakistan Boundary Agreement and had consistently maintained that it was illegal and invalid.
He said India resolutely opposed any attempt to alter the status of the occupied territories or legitimise what it described as illegal occupation, asserting that such actions impinged on the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Any so-called boundary cooperation between China and Pakistan concerning Indian territories would be completely unacceptable and would have no bearing whatsoever on India’s sovereignty over these territories,” the spokesperson said.
Calling on Pakistan to vacate the areas under its occupation, Jaiswal said Islamabad should “immediately vacate from areas under its illegal and forcible occupation”.
The statement comes amid reports concerning the Pakistan-China Boundary Joint Commission, which India has rejected as lacking legal validity.
