Baramulla, Sep 28: The Baramulla district administration has initiated the process of preparing a new Draft Master Plan for Baramulla, Sopore and Pattan towns, seeking wider public and stakeholder participation in shaping the future urban development of north Kashmir.
According to a public notice, a stakeholders’ meeting has been scheduled for October 5, 2026, at the Dak Bungalow in Baramulla.
The meeting is aimed at gathering views and suggestions on the proposed planning framework for the three urban centres and is part of the exercise to update the existing urban development framework.
The administration has invited members of the general public, public representatives, government departments, prominent citizens and representatives of stakeholder organisations, associations and federations operating in Baramulla, Sopore and Pattan to participate in the consultation process.
The notice said suggestions and feedback from different sections of society would help in formulating a comprehensive Draft Master Plan that takes into account the requirements and challenges of the expanding towns.
Residents, traders, business owners and other stakeholders have been urged to submit their suggestions and inputs by or before October 4, a day ahead of the scheduled meeting.
The proposed planning exercise assumes significance as Baramulla, Sopore and Pattan continue to witness expansion, increasing pressure on infrastructure, traffic and public amenities.
The consultation is expected to provide stakeholders an opportunity to raise issues concerning land use, infrastructure, connectivity, civic amenities and other aspects of planned urban growth.
The administration has appealed to all concerned stakeholders to actively participate in the process and place their views before the authorities.
The feedback received during the consultation will form part of the inputs for the preparation of the Draft Master Plan for the three towns.
