JKEJAC, JKTF raise safety, duty concerns ahead of Board examinations

During the meeting, the delegation, as per a statement, placed before the officer several genuine and important concerns relating to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety and security of students, examination centres, deployment of examination staff, accessibility and other welfare-related matters.

The delegation particularly emphasised that, in view of the present circumstances, wild animals are frequently moving in several hilly and remote areas, creating genuine safety concerns for students, staff and other persons associated with the examination process. The delegation therefore urged that adequate precautionary and safety measures be put in place, particularly in vulnerable and difficult areas.

The delegation further requested that, as far as administratively feasible, employees assigned examination duties should preferably be deployed at examination centres within a reasonable distance of approximately 10–15 kilometres from their residences, so that unnecessary hardship and travel-related difficulties may be avoided.

The delegation also raised the issue of fair and transparent examination arrangements, besides seeking appropriate consideration/exemption for employees who are suffering from long-term or life-long medical conditions, as well as female employees who are on maternity leave or child-care leave, subject to applicable rules and regulations.

The Assistant Secretary JKBOSE, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, gave a patient hearing to all the concerns raised by the delegation and assured that the genuine issues brought before him would be duly examined and appropriately addressed. He further assured the delegation that every possible effort would be made to ensure that the forthcoming examinations are conducted in a safe, smooth, disciplined, peaceful and student-friendly atmosphere.
