In a tweet on Saturday, 56-year-old Omar said, “a new journey began yesterday…” and tagged Nidhi in it.

The tweet included four pictures of the couple.

Razdan also announced the marriage in her own style, posting, “It is done bro,” alongside a photograph.

Sources said the marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act here on Friday.

The witnesses included family members from both sides.

CM Omar’s marriage to his first wife, Payal, was dissolved by an order of the Supreme Court in July this year after the two reached a settlement.

This is also the second marriage for 49-year-old Nidhi.

The wedding functions in Srinagar and New Delhi were attended by families and close relatives from both sides.

Abdullah’s parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, his three sisters, and other close relatives, as well as Nidhi’s parents, journalist M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan, attended the functions.

Meanwhile, CM Omar and journalist Nidhi Razdan, restricted replies to their wedding announcements on microblogging platform X.

CM Omar, who has around 3.1 million followers on the platform, and Razdan, who has 1.1 million followers, announced their marriage through separate posts on X.

The couple, however, limited access to the comments on their respective posts, allowing only selected users to respond.

The move is particularly noteworthy in CM Omar’s case, given his long and active presence on the platform, where he has often engaged with users and responded to political developments.

CM Omar has been using Twitter since 2010 and earned the moniker “Twitter Boy” for his frequent activity on the platform.

Over the years, his posts have ranged from political commentary and reactions to current affairs to personal observations.

His active presence has also made him a frequent target of criticism from political opponents, with some questioning the time he devotes to social media.

His posts have at times attracted sharp and vitriolic responses from users.

Despite the criticism, CM Omar has continued to use the platform as a means of communicating with the public, commenting on political developments and expressing his views on issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.

Whether the restriction on replies is limited to the wedding announcement or marks a more permanent change in CM Omar’s social media engagement remains to be seen.
