Srinagar, Sep 14: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday announced the formation of a 10-member legal team to contest the detention of its Jammu and Kashmir unit president and sitting MLA, Mehraj Malik, who was booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
In a post on X, senior AAP leader and former Delhi minister Imran Hussain as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC wrote, that the party has constituted a team of lawyers to pursue the case in court.
“AAP stands strong with our MLA Mehraj Malik, arrested under PSA. A strong legal team led by Senior Advocate Nirmal K Kotwal with Adv Muzaffar Khan, Adv Sheik Shakeel Ahmad and Adv Appu Singh (Assisting Counsel), supported by Arvind Bandral, Joginder Singh Thakur, Gaurav Sarangal, Sandeep Sharma, Asim Hashmi and M Tariq Mughal, will fight this case,” Hussain wrote.
3-year-old, MLA, Mehraj Malik, was detained on September 8 in Doda for allegedly disturbing public order. His arrest triggered violent protests in the area, prompting the authorities to impose prohibitory restrictions and suspend mobile internet as well as broadband services.
