Against all odds, Raja Azhar from Uri cracks UPSC without any coaching

Uri, Oct 29: In a remarkable achievement, Raja Azhar from Bijhama village in Boniyar tehsil has become the first youth from the border subdivision of Uri to qualify the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination, earning widespread appreciation across north Kashmir.

Despite hailing from a modest background and facing limited resources in the remote region, Azhar achieved the feat purely through self-study, guided by determination and perseverance.

“Self-study has been the key to my success. I did not attend any coaching institute; instead, I focused on consistent learning and discipline, which finally paid off,” Azhar said.

He credited technology for helping bridge the resource gap. “I didn’t have the luxury of taking coaching classes. However, online tools, including Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT, played a key role in my preparation,” he said.

Belonging to a humble family, Azhar’s father runs a small business in the village. He expressed deep gratitude to his parents, friends, and well-wishers for their constant encouragement.

“I share this success with everyone who believed in me and motivated me to stay focused,” he added.

Azhar’s success has ignited hope among young aspirants from far-flung and rural areas of J&K, demonstrating that with dedication and the right use of technology, barriers of geography and privilege can be overcome.

“The key to success is obsession for your goal. I set my goal and followed it religiously,” Azhar said with quiet pride.
