Srinagar, Feb 28: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the All India Professional Congress (AIPC) has described Jammu & Kashmir’s victory in the final of the Ranji Trophy against Karnataka as a defining and transformative moment in the history of J&K.
In an statement issued here, AIPC J&K State Head Sanjay Sapru congratulated the entire cricket team for what he termed “a landmark accomplishment that has elevated Jammu & Kashmir onto the national sporting pedestal”.
“This is a proud and historic day for Jammu and Kashmir. The team’s victory in the Ranji Trophy final reflects discipline, perseverance and strategic focus. It sends a powerful message that the youth of our region possess the capability to excel at the highest level. This achievement must now be consolidated through long-term policy support for grassroots cricket,” Sapru said. He said that the triumph should act as a catalyst for strengthening sports infrastructure and encouraging structured talent development across districts.
AIPC J&K’s Research Vertical State Head Shadab Peerzada also congratulated the team, calling the victory “a generational moment that will inspire countless young athletes across the region”.
“Winning the Ranji Trophy is not merely a sporting success; it represents a shift in narrative for Jammu & Kashmir. The players have demonstrated unity, resilience and competitive maturity,” Peerzada said.
The AIPC leadership extended special congratulations to captain Paras Dogra for his composed leadership and to Shubham Pundir for his magnificent century in the final, which laid the foundation for victory. The organisation also applauded the contributions of Qamran Iqbal, Yawer Hassan, Abdul Samad, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Sahil Lotra, Abid Mushtaq, Auqib Nabi, and Yudhvir Singh, acknowledging their pivotal roles in securing the historic win against Karnataka.
