Srinagar, Oct 11: The walls and windows of the Amar Singh Club Srinagar came alive with the paintings and the pictures as the artists exhibited their creative expressions during an Art and photography exhibition.
The day-long exhibition was organised by the managing committee of Amar Singh Club Srinagar in order to provide a platform to the budding artists to showcase their talent through Art and photography.
The space was provided free of cost to the artists to display their art through expressions and emotions.
Given the overwhelming response, the day-long exhibition was extended for one more day by the managing body.
“We provided this space to our artists to provide them a platform to exhibit their Art in terms of paintings and photography. The artists do not get much space to exhibit their talent,” Secretary Amar Singh Club Srinagar, Nasir Hamid Khan told Greater Kashmir.
“Some members of the club who have global brands were interested to know about the local art and artists. We had a good collection on display for the public,” he said.
Nasir Khan said they extended the exhibition for one more day on public demand. “We received several calls from people who requested to extend the exhibition for one more day. So it will continue on Sunday as well,” he said.
The artists said that such places and exhibitions play an important role in boosting the local artists.
“It is really important to showcase the local talent of Kashmir. Organising such events where artists exhibit their talent boosts the morale of artists,” one of the female artists said.
She said the local artists presented the local tradition of Kashmir through paintings and photography during the exhibition.
“Such exhibitions are important for kids as there is a need that Art to become part of their life so that they take a break from screen time, which is very important,” she said.
Artists said that such exhibitions give an uplift to the Artists and increase the sensitivity of the Art as well.
“This platform was for both self-taught and trained artists as well. The space was provided to them so that their art reaches a broader audience,” one of the organisers told Greater Kashmir.
“This exhibition promotes art and the artists as well,” he said.
Another artist said such exhibitions should become a regular feature so that Artists from all corners get an opportunity to showcase their talent.
