Anantnag, Jan 30: Continuing its relentless efforts to dismantle illegal drug trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir, police in Anantnag arrested a drug peddler and recovered 16 grams of a heroin-like substance from his possession during a naka checking operation at Achabal Chowk, officials said
In a statement, a police spokesperson said, “During the naka checking, a person identified as Arif Ramzan Mir, S/O Mohd Ramzan Mir, R/O Shangus, who was coming from Shelipora in a vehicle bearing registration number JK03C-4157, was intercepted by the police party. Upon search, 16 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.”
Accordingly, police said, a case has been registered under relevant sections of law at the police station. Achabal, and investigation has been set into motion. Further probe is underway to ascertain the source and forward/backward linkages of the contraband.
Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to curb the menace of drug abuse and urges the general public to cooperate and share information related to drug trafficking,”
