Jammu, Oct 30: An Army personnel was injured in an accidental firing incident along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Wednesday, officials said.
Preliminary reports suggest that the service rifle of the soldier, identified as Agniveer KP Singh, went off accidentally, resulting in a gunshot wound to his foot.
He was immediately shifted to a nearby Army hospital, where he is undergoing treatment and is stated to be out of danger.
Army authorities have ordered an internal inquiry into the incident to ascertain the exact circumstances under which the weapon discharged.
