Tehran, June 14 : Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday said that any talks with the United States over Tehran’s nuclear programme are now “meaningless” following Israel’s recent attack on Iranian territory, according to a report by Mehr News Agency (MNA).

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh stated that the US cannot claim to be negotiating while allegedly permitting Israel to carry out military strikes.

“The other side (the US) acted in a way that makes dialogue meaningless. You cannot claim to negotiate and at the same time divide work by allowing the Zionist regime (Israel) to target Iran’s territory,” MNA, citing Baghaei, reported.

Baghaei also accused the US of supporting the Israeli attack. He said that the Israeli regime “succeeded in influencing” the diplomatic process and claimed the strike would not have happened without Washington’s permission.

Iran had previously accused the United States of being complicit in the Israeli military action. The sixth round of US-Iran nuclear talks was scheduled to take place on Sunday in Muscat. However, following the Israeli strikes, it remains unclear whether the meeting will proceed.

Mehr News Agency, citing Reuters, reported that US President Donald Trump said he and his team were aware that the Israeli attacks were going to happen, but still believed there was a possibility for an agreement.

Meanwhile, hours after the first Israeli strike, Trump issued a warning to Iran, urging it to strike a deal “before it is too late.”

In a statement shared on Truth Social, Trump said: “I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to ‘just do it,’ but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done. I told them it would be much worse than anything they know, anticipated, or were told, that the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, by far, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come – and they know how to use it. Certain Iranian hardliners spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen.”

“They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse! There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end. Iran must make a deal before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. No more death, no more destruction, Just do it, before it is too late. God Bless You All,”  he iraadded.

Trump’s comments come amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.

On Friday, Israel launched what it described as “pre-emptive” strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. In a clarification posted on X, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said: “Iran is closer than ever to obtaining a nuclear weapon. Weapons of mass destruction in the hands of the Iranian regime are an existential threat to the State of Israel and to the wider world. The State of Israel has no choice but to fulfil the obligation to act in defence of its citizens and will continue to do so everywhere it is required to do so.”

Following the attack, CNN reported that several of Iran’s top officials, including senior military leaders and nuclear scientists, were killed.

In response, Iran reportedly launched loitering munitions and missile strikes on Tel Aviv. Israel has since continued its counterstrikes.

New Delhi, June 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation visit from June 15 to 19, covering the Republic of Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia. The tour includes high-level bilateral meetings, strategic dialogues, and participation in the G-7 Summit in Canada. According to an official press release, the visit reaffirms India’s commitment to deepening ties with the Mediterranean, North American, and Central European regions.

Visit to Cyprus: June 15–16

Prime Minister Modi will begin his trip in Cyprus at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Nikos Christodoulides. The Ministry of External Affairs stated, “This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in over two decades.”

During the visit to Nicosia, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Christodoulides aimed at enhancing cooperation in various sectors. He will also address business leaders in Limassol. “The visit will reaffirm the shared commitment of the two countries to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen India’s engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union,” the official statement read.

G-7 Summit in Canada: June 16–17

In the second leg of the tour, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Kananaskis, Canada, on June 16 and 17 to participate in the G-7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Mark Carney. This would be Prime Minister’s 6th consecutive participation in the G-7 Summit. PM Modi will take part in high-level sessions with leaders of G-7 countries, invited outreach partners, and heads of international organisations.

“At the Summit, Prime Minister will exchange views with leaders of G-7 countries, other invited outreach countries and Heads of International Organisations on crucial global issues, including energy security, technology and innovation, particularly the AI-energy nexus and Quantum-related issues,” the statement said. The Prime Minister is also expected to hold multiple bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.
Visit to Croatia: June 18

In the final leg of his tour, Prime Minister Modi will visit Croatia on June 18 at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Andrej Plenković.

This will be the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, marking an important milestone in the bilateral relationship. PM Modi will hold formal discussions with Prime Minister Plenković and also meet the President of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Zoran Milanović.

“The visit to Croatia will also underscore India’s commitment to further strengthening its engagement with partners in the European Union,” the official statement concluded. The three-nation visit is seen as part of India’s larger diplomatic outreach, enhancing strategic, economic, and technological partnerships in key global regions.

Vienna, June 14: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, in his statement to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Friday, confirmed that Israel’s airstrikes on Iran’s Natanz nuclear site caused internal radiological and chemical contamination.

However, radiation levels outside the site remain normal, posing no threat to the public or the environment.

“However, due to the impacts, there is radiological and chemical contamination inside the facilities in Natanz. The type of radiation present inside the facility, primarily alpha particles, is manageable with appropriate radiation protection measures,” Grossi said in his statement.

The IAEA chief said the Israeli attacks destroyed the above-ground section of the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant, where uranium was being enriched up to 60 per cent U-235.

Grossi stated that the agency has been in “permanent contact” with Iran’s Nuclear Regulatory Authority to assess the damage and ensure nuclear safety and security.

“Iran has confirmed that at present, only the Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant site has been attacked in today’s strikes. This facility contains the Fuel Enrichment Plant and the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant,” The IAEA Director General said.

He added that the electrical infrastructure, including the main and emergency power systems, was also destroyed. While there is no visible damage to the underground cascade hall, the loss of power may have affected the centrifuges housed there.

“There is no indication of a physical attack on the underground cascade hall containing part of the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant and the main Fuel Enrichment Plant. However, the loss of power to the cascade hall may have damaged the centrifuges there,” the IAEA Chief added.

According to Grossi, Iran has also informed the agency of attacks near other sites, including the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant and the Esfahan complex. These facilities include a uranium conversion facility, a fuel plate fabrication plant, a fuel manufacturing plant, and a Uranium dioxide (UO2) powder plant. The IAEA said it has not yet verified the full extent of any damage to these locations.

“All these developments are deeply concerning. I have repeatedly stated that nuclear facilities must never be attacked, regardless of the context or circumstances, as it could harm both people and the environment. Such attacks have serious implications for nuclear safety, security and safeguards, as well as regional and international peace and security,” Grossi said.

The IAEA’s Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) has been in continuous contact with Iranian officials since the attack. A task force of senior agency staff has also been set up to monitor the situation 24/7 and report to the UN Security Council if required.

“As Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and consistent with the objectives of the IAEA under the IAEA Statute, I call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid further escalation,” Grossi said.

He added that the agency is prepared to deploy nuclear safety and security experts, in addition to its existing safeguards inspectors in Iran.

Grossi also informed the IAEA Board of Governors that he is ready to travel to the region to assess the situation directly. “I have indicated to the respective authorities my readiness to travel at the earliest to assess the situation and ensure safety, security and non-proliferation in Iran. I have also been in contact with our inspectors in Iran and Israel. The safety of our staff is of paramount importance. All necessary actions are being taken to ensure they are not harmed,” he said.
