Srinagar, Aug 01: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today chaired a meeting of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to review the progress of compassionate appointment cases, pending SVAMITA matters under MAPS 1.0, implementation of AgriStack, and the locking of Jamabandies across the Kashmir Division.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner conducted a district-wise review of the progress achieved under each initiative and emphasized the need for timely completion of all pending tasks. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that the prescribed targets are achieved within the stipulated timelines through close monitoring and coordinated efforts.

Reviewing the status of compassionate appointment cases, the Divisional Commissioner instructed the DCs to expedite the disposal of all pending cases in accordance with the established norms and procedures.

The Divisional Commissioner also directed the Deputy Commissioners to furnish details of encroachments on public land and public spaces by religious structures within the next two days to facilitate further action.

To prevent the dissemination of misinformation and fake news on social media platforms, the Divisional Commissioner instructed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict adherence by media channels & users to the advisories issued by the Information Department and take punitive action incase of noncompliance.

Srinagar, Aug 01: Chairman of the All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) and senior political leader Jagmohan Singh Raina today strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Kulgam that claimed the lives of two non-local labourers.

Speaking to reports, Raina described the attack as a cowardly and inhuman act that must be condemned by all sections of society. He expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for strength for them during this difficult time.

Raina demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, noting that this is the second such attack within the last 10 days. He said the repeated incidents are a matter of serious concern and urged the administration and security agencies to identify those responsible and bring them to justice without delay.

He emphasized that such acts are aimed at disturbing peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir and appealed to the people to remain united against terrorism while maintaining communal harmony.

Srinagar, Aug 01: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level security review meeting today.

The meeting was attended by Atal Dullo, Chief Secretary; Nalin Prabhat, DGP; Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary Home Department; S.J.M.Gillani, Special DG Coordination PHQ; Nitish Kumar, ADGP, CID; M Raju, Commissioner/Secretary, GAD; IGPs; Divisional Commissioners; SSPs, Deputy Commissioners and other senior officials.

The Lieutenant Governor directed all the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs to conduct a comprehensive review of the Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) established to protect laborers from outside Jammu Kashmir. He also directed that the employers must ensure all workers from other states and UTs of the country are provided insurance and that their details are registered with local police and district authorities.

“We must intensify precise, high-impact anti-terror operations to neutralise the terrorists,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He instructed the authorities to ensure dignified last rites for the victims of the Kulgam terror attack and to provide all the support to bereaved families.

The meeting also discussed the security arrangements in place for the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra and strengthening of the security grid.

Srinagar, Aug 01: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday handed over a compassionate appointment letter to Inshah Nazir, wife of J&K Police Inspector Masroor Ali Wani, at a ceremony held in Srinagar.

The appointment was made on compassionate grounds as part of the administration’s support to the family of the slain police officer.

During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor paid tribute to Inspector Masroor Ali Wani’s supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and assured his family of the administration’s continued support and assistance.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday handed over an appointment letter to Absar Ashiq Qureshi, son of Jammu and Kashmir Police Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi who was killed in Anantnag terrorist attack.

Family members of the slain police officer were present during the appointment ceremony.

The Lieutenant Governor paid tributes to Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, who laid down his life in the line of duty during the July 22, 2026 terror attack in Anantnag. He lauded the martyr’s courage and supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

Sinha assured the bereaved family of the administration’s continued support and reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of the families of martyred security personnel.

Last week, the Lieutenant Governor had visited the martyr’s family at Lalpora in Beerwah, Budgam, where he expressed his condolences and assured them of all possible assistance.

Srinagar, Aug 01: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, today met the families of the victims of the Kulgam terror attack at PCR Kashmir and expressed his deepest condolences and solidarity with them.

Extending his support to the grieving families, Sharma said that their pain is the pain of the entire country and that he stands firmly with them in this hour of immense grief and sorrow. He assured the families that every possible assistance and support would be extended to them.

Sunil Sharma spoke with the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vijay Sharma, and ensured that all necessary support would be provided to the families affected by this tragic incident. The bereaved families also spoke with the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, who assured them of extending all possible help and support during this difficult time.

Condemning the cowardly act of terror, Sharma said that those responsible for this heinous crime will not be spared and will be brought to justice. He reiterated that such acts of violence against innocent people are unacceptable and that all efforts would be made to support the victims’ families during this difficult time.

The Leader of Opposition reaffirmed his commitment to standing with the affected families and extending every possible assistance to them.

Srinagar, Aug 01: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Umar Farooq has expressed deep grief over the killing of two non-local labourers in the Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Mirwaiz said Islam upholds the sanctity of every innocent human life and unequivocally condemns the killing of innocent persons. He said targeting poor labourers who have come to earn an honest livelihood is completely contrary to the teachings of Islam and the values of humanity.

He said that, whether in Kashmir or elsewhere, the spilling of innocent blood only brings more pain and suffering. “Violence must be shunned. Instead, the path of accommodation, dialogue and engagement is the way forward to make South Asia a more peaceful and better place for all its people,” he said.

The Mirwaiz also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
