Teenager found dead under mysterious circumstances in south Kashmir's Kulgam

Budgam, Sep 25: A 45-year-old migrant labourer from Haryana was discovered dead on Thursday morning at a brick kiln in Nowbugh village of Chadoora area in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said.

The deceased, identified as Binder Singh, son of Banwari Lal, hailed from Saina Saida village in Kurukshetra district of Haryana. Singh had been working as a horse cart driver at Dilber Brick Kiln, one of the largest kilns operating in the Chadoora belt.

Fellow workers said that Singh appeared to be in normal health when he retired to his hut after dinner last night. However, when his companions attempted to wake him in the morning, he did not respond. Panic spread across the labourers’ quarters, and kiln staff informed the local police, who arrived soon after.

The police shifted Singh’s body to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Chadoora, where medical staff conducted preliminary checks before ordering a post-mortem. Officials said the cause of death remains unclear and will only be confirmed after forensic examination.

Police officials confirmed that an inquest has been initiated. “Legal formalities are underway. The post-mortem will establish whether the death was natural or otherwise,” a police officer said. [KNT]

4.26 billion cyberattacks blocked in India H1 2025 as API exploits surge 126% Indusface

Massive Chinese cyberattack hit more than 80 countries last year, exposed global leaders’ data

Bangalore, Sep 25: Indusface, a globally trusted Application Security SaaS provider serving over 5,000 customers in 95 countries, today released its State of Application Security – India H1 2025 Report. The findings reveal a 15% increase in cyberattacks compared to H1 2024, with over 4.26 billion attacks blocked by AppTrana WAAP during the six-month period. Each site faced an average of 4.1 million attacks, underscoring the rising intensity of targeted threats across Indian enterprises.

APIs emerged as the most vulnerable target. API attacks grew by 126% year-on-year, with vulnerability exploitation increasing 13 times and DDoS incidents on API hosts surging 388% per site. In total, more than 1.36 billion API attacks were recorded in H1 2025. In contrast, website attacks rose by 11%, with vulnerability exploits up 26% and DDoS attacks up 15%. AppTrana blocked 62% of all attacks through custom rules tailored to specific applications, while 38% were mitigated by its default rule set, reflecting the growing sophistication of targeted threats.

The report also highlighted the persistence of bot-driven and DDoS activity. Over 1.51 billion DDoS attacks were blocked in the first half of 2025, affecting 70% of monitored sites, while 90% of websites experienced bot attacks, totalling 45.3 million incidents. Attack traffic originated largely from India, followed by the United States, France, Singapore and Germany.

India is now among the top five global sources and targets of application-layer attacks. Attackers are shifting from high-volume disruption to low-and-slow precision exploits, often weaponising zero-days within days of discovery. Nearly 40% of Indian enterprises admitted they lacked resources to respond to continuous vulnerabilities, leaving critical applications exposed for prolonged periods. Alarmingly, one-third of high-severity vulnerabilities in India remained unpatched for more than six months, creating a persistent attack surface.

Sectoral analysis showed sharp increases in cyber threats across industries. Insurance recorded a 309% rise in overall attacks, with DDoS surging 350% and vulnerability exploits increasing tenfold. Manufacturing reported a 311% increase, with DDoS up 427% and vulnerability exploits up 459%. Banking and financial services faced a 14% rise in overall attacks, vulnerability exploitation up 46%, and DDoS incidents spiking 172% during Operation Sindoor, underscoring how geopolitical events intensify sector-specific risks.

Healthcare websites reported a 247% increase in targeted attacks blocked via custom rules, with every monitored site hit by bots. Retail and e-commerce faced a 420% surge in DDoS incidents and 127% higher vulnerability exploitation, alongside bot-driven carding and credential abuse. Small and mid-sized businesses were disproportionately affected, facing 202% more website attacks, 74 times more API attacks and 121 times higher API DDoS incidents compared to large enterprises.

“Vulnerability attacks, especially on APIs, have surged 13x compared to last year. APIs are now one of the biggest risk surfaces for enterprises because of extensive third-party integrations and the sensitive data flows they enable. Through our exploit analytics, we’ve given enterprises unmatched visibility into these attacks and blocked them instantly using autonomous vulnerability remediation.” Said Ashish Tandon, Founder & CEO, Indusface.

“Most importantly, AI helped us shrink the mean time to remediate (MTTR) from months to days. We’ve already helped customers generate thousands of zero-vulnerability reports, with an average turnaround of just 12 hours. That is a game-changer when you consider that hackers weaponize new vulnerabilities in under 48 hours, particularly for critical CVEs. With Indusface, customers can stay not just compliant, but a step ahead.” Added, Ashish.

Indusface’s ROI Analysis of Managed WAAP demonstrated measurable business value for Indian enterprises. Indian enterprises gained annual value of up to ₹21 lakhs just in operational savings. Key benefits included improved vulnerability remediation cycles, minimized reliance on internal teams; continuous DDoS and bot mitigation reduced outage-related losses; and avoided penalties and reputational damage associated with non-compliance and breaches.

The study further estimated that DDoS monitoring cost avoidance alone delivered savings of up to 40% compared to traditional in-house monitoring and incident response frameworks, highlighting how managed WAAP services can be a cost-efficient alternative.

The report revealed 18,000 critical and high-severity vulnerabilities across applications in India in H1 2025, with one-third of these left open for over six months. AppTrana immediately mitigated all attempts to exploit these open vulnerabilities through virtual patching. Zero-day vulnerabilities also climbed steeply, with 3,508 detected in the first half of 2025 compared to 1,265 a year earlier. AppTrana customers benefited from 100% protection against these zero-days, with 98% covered by default rules and the remainder secured by custom mitigations.

With regulators such as SEBI and RBI intensifying their scrutiny, the report emphasizes that faster vulnerability detection, real-time patching and continuous monitoring will be vital. For resource-constrained SMEs, managed WAAP solutions with AI-driven bot mitigation, adaptive DDoS defense and automated vulnerability management will be essential to withstand the rising tide of application-layer threats.

The JKEJCC said the programme is aimed at drawing the government’s attention towards long-pending demands concerning the welfare, security, and dignity of employees, including timely release of GPF bills, restoration of SRO-43 in its original form, regularisation of temporary employees such as FPS dealers and contractual staff, extension of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to all employees, leave encashment for teachers at par with other departments, and freedom to open salary accounts in banks of their choice, ending the monopoly of J&K Bank.

BCCI complains against Rauf, Sahibzada to ICC; PCB lodge protest against Surya

BCCI complains against Rauf, Sahibzada to ICC; PCB lodge protest against Surya

Dubai, Sep 25: India has filed an official complaint with the ICC against Pakistan cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for their provocative gestures during the two sides’ Asia Cup Super 4 game here last Sunday.

It is reliably learnt that the BCCI filed the complaint against the duo on Wednesday and ICC is in receipt of the e-mail.

An ICC hearing is expected to take place in case Sahibzada and Rauf deny these allegations in writing. They might have to appear before the ICC Elite Panel Referee Richie Richardson for a hearing.

In a retaliatory gesture, the Pakistan Cricket Board also seems to have lodged an official complaint with the international parent body against Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav for expressing his solidarity with victims of Pahalgam terror attack and dedicating his team’s victory to the Indian Armed Forces involved in Operation Sindoor. His comments came after the September 14 game.

PCB alleges that Surya’s comments are “political” although technically it needs to be seen when exactly did it file the complaint, which needs to be lodged within seven days of the said comment.

Rauf, Sahibzada gestures

During the September 21 match, Rauf had made gestures to depict the bringing down of a plane to mock India’s military action after Indian supporters chanted “Kohli, Kohli” referring to the couple of match-winning sixes that the Indian legend hit off the pacer at MCG during a T20 World Cup game in 2022.

During the match, he hurled abuses at Indian openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma during his bowling spell and the two youngsters responded with their bats.

Sahibzada, during the same match, celebrated with a gun-firing gesture using his bat as a machine gun prop, something that has been widely criticised.

“That celebration was just a moment at that time. I do not do a lot of celebrations after scoring 50. But, it suddenly came to my mind that let’s do a celebration today. I did that. I don’t know how people will take it. I don’t care about that,” Farhan had told reporters after the match.

Both Rauf and Sahibzada will have to explain their gestures at the ICC hearing and if they can’t convince then they could face sanctions as per th code of conduct.

Naqvi posts cryptic CR7 video on ‘X’

Adding fuel to the fire, Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday posted a slow-motion video of Cristiano Ronaldo on ‘X’, where the Portuguese legend is seen gesturing that an aircraft suddenly crashed, something that Rauf indicated on-field during the clash of arch-rivals last Sunday.

Naqvi, apart from also being Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, is the ‘Interior Minister’ of his country and is known to make provocative statements against the India.

Ronaldo, in the video, could well be explaining how his direct free-kick dipped and entered the goal.

After this, whether the Indian team, which is now the finalist of the Asia Cup, share the dais with the ACC Chairman is something that remains to be seen.

The matter hasn’t gone unnoticed as far as both BCCI and ICC mandarins are concerned. Only time will tell if there will be some kind of action taken against Naqvi.

Trump alleges ‘sabotage’ at UN, demands Secret Service probe

0
China and India 'primary funders' of Ukraine war by continuing to purchase Russian oil: Trump at UNGA

New York, Sep 25: US President Donald Trump has claimed he was the target of “three very sinister events” during his visit to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) a day earlier and said the Secret Service would investigate the matter.

Trump, who addressed world leaders at the UN, lashed out at the institution for “squandering its potential,” criticised European allies for their handling of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and accused them of embracing immigration policies that he said were driving their nations “to hell.”

Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday (local time), Trump suggested that a series of unusual mishaps during his visit were not coincidental but part of a larger plot.

The first incident, according to Trump, occurred when an escalator carrying him and his entourage came to a “screeching halt.”

He described the incident as “absolutely sabotage,” demanding accountability.

“The people that did it should be arrested,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The second disruption happened during his UN address when his teleprompter suddenly went “stone cold dark.”

Trump implied foul play, although a UN official, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said that responsibility for the teleprompter’s operation lay with the White House staff.

The third alleged sabotage, Trump said, was related to sound issues inside the hall. According to him, attendees could only hear his remarks if they relied on interpreters through earpieces. He claimed his wife, Melania, was unable to hear him at all.

“This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage,” Trump declared, insisting that the incidents were deliberate.

He also urged the UN to preserve its security footage of the escalator malfunction, adding that the Secret Service would be involved in the probe.
