New Delhi, Dec 08: A Delhi court on Monday extended the NIA custody of three doctors and a preacher, who were arrested in connection with the November 10 Red Fort blast case, by four days.

All four accused — Dr Muzammil Ganai, Dr Adeel Rather, Dr Shaheena Saeed and Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay — were produced before Principal and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna on the expiry of their 10-day NIA custody granted on November 29.

Media persons were barred from covering the court proceedings, which were held under tight security in and around the Patiala House district court premises.

Till now, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made seven arrests in the case, which is linked to a ‘white-collar’ terror module busted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

“The agency continues to pursue various leads in connection with the suicide bombing, and has been conducting searches across states in coordination with the respective police forces to identify and track the others involved in the gruesome attack,” the agency said in a statement earlier.

Dr Umar-un-Nabi was driving the explosives-laden i20 car that detonated outside the Red Fort on November 10, killing 15 people and injuring several others.

PTI had earlier reported that the sophisticated terror module spearheaded by a group of doctors had been actively scouting for a suicide bomber since last year, with Umar being the alleged key planner.

New Delhi, Dec 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lamented that when national song Vande Mataram completed 100 years, the Constitution was “throttled” and nation chained by Emergency.

Initiating a discussion on 150 years of Vande Mataram in the Lok Sabha, Modi noted that when Vande Mataram completed 50 years, India was reeling under colonialism.

“When Vande Mataram completed 50 years, country was under colonial rule while at its 100th anniversary the nation was under Emergency,” he said.

The prime minister noted that the mantra of Vande Mataram gave power and inspiration to the entire country during freedom struggle

“The mantra energised and inspired India’s freedom movement and showed the path of courage and determination. Remembering that sacred Vande Mataram today is a great privilege for all of us in this House.

“It is a matter of pride for us that we are witnessing the historic occasion of Vande Mataram completing 150 years,” he said.

“When Vande Mataram completed 100 years, the nation was chained by the Emergency. At that time, the Constitution was throttled and those who lived and died for patriotism were pushed behind prison bars. The Emergency was a dark chapter in our history. Now we have the opportunity to restore the greatness of Vande Mataram. And I believe this opportunity should not be allowed to pass,” Modi said.

Hyderabad, Dec 08: Bomb threats to three flights, including two international flights, sent authorities at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) into a tizzy. All three flights landed safely on Sunday night, officials at RGIA said on Monday.

A bomb threat email was received at RGIA customer support for three flights coming from Kannur, Frankfurt, and Heathrow. Airport authorities activated standard safety protocols. All three flights landed safely, according to a statement from the airport authorities.

After a thorough check by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and police, along with the bomb disposal squads, the bomb threats proved to be a hoax.

IndiGo flight from Kannur to Hyderabad (6E 7178) landed safely at 10:50 p.m. The bomb threat was also targeted at Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Hyderabad (LH 752). The flight landed safely at 2 a.m. on Monday.

British Airways flight BA 277 from Heathrow to Hyderabad also landed safely at 5.20 a.m. on Monday. Police launched an investigation to identify the sender of the email.

The latest bomb threat came a day after similar emails were received on Saturday (December 6), targeting four flights within a span of less than 12 hours. While three flights landed safely at RGIA, the fourth was forced to return to its departure airport as a precaution.

After intensive checks, all the bomb threats had proved to be a hoax.

The bomb threats had targeted Air India flight AI 2879 from Delhi to Hyderabad, British Airways flight BA 277 from Heathrow to Hyderabad, and Singapore Airlines flight SQ 518 from Singapore to Hyderabad. The three flights landed safely at Hyderabad airport.

However, Kuwait Airways flight KU 373 from Kuwait to Hyderabad returned to Kuwait as a precaution, as it was the closest airport at the time of threat detection.

A series of bomb threats has targeted flights this month.

On December 5, an Emirates flight from Dubai to Hyderabad received a similar emailed threat but landed safely, and a thorough check was conducted. Two IndiGo flights — from Kuwait to Hyderabad and Medinah to Hyderabad — were diverted following bomb threat messages on December 2 and December 4.
