CCIK holds Executive Committee meeting to discuss industry, economic issues

Srinagar, Nov 19: The Chamber of Commerce & Industries – Kashmir (CCIK) convened its Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday. The session centred on organisational planning, sector-specific challenges, and the broader economic landscape of Jammu & Kashmir, said a press release.

During the meeting, Showkat Chowdary was unanimously elected as Advisor to the Chamber. Members warmly welcomed his appointment and expressed confidence that his vast experience will enhance CCIK’s outreach, policy representation, and strategic initiatives. Zubair Gul was elected as youth President CCIK

The committee also reviewed major issues impacting trade, industry, and tourism in the region. Several sub-committees were formed to streamline activities and advance CCIK’s agenda for the year 2025–26. The Chamber confirmed that formal representations have been submitted to the Home Minister and the Prime Minister, urging swift intervention for tourism revival and attention to prevailing economic concerns in Jammu & Kashmir.

Reiterating its commitment to safeguarding livelihoods, CCIK emphasised the urgent need for supportive measures to restore economic stability and foster sustainable growth. The meeting concluded with a unified resolve to continue strong advocacy for business resilience, development, and prosperity across the region.

The Minister of Renewable Energy, Satish Sharma, graced the meeting and congratulated the newly elected Executive committee members and office bearers of CCIK. The Minister also congratulated Mushtaq Chaya for being appointed chief patron and Tariq Ghani as president, Showkat Chowdary as Advisor. He extended his full support to the chamber.
