Rajouri, Aug 31: Former minister and vice president J&K BJP Chowdhary Zulfikar has emphasised the need for the administration to immediately assess the losses caused to the people in the recent flood and heavy rains.
Zulfikar, accompanied by MLA Kalakote Thakur Randhir Singh and district president Dav Raj Sharma, on Saturday was interacting with Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma; DIG Tejinder Singh and SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar.
BJP leaders commended them for their prompt action and effectiveness in dealing with the flood-like situation in the area, ensuring no loss of lives.
With regard to Chowdhary Zulfikar’s call for immediate assessment of the losses, the Deputy Commissioner assured that all necessary efforts would be made to address the situation, and the administration had already circulated a telephone number for people to register complaints.
Former minister also highlighted various issues pertaining to the Rural Development Department, where houses constructed under PMAY were damaged or washed away during this rainy season. He urged the administration to provide assistance to rebuild these houses under PMAY and SDRF. Furthermore, he suggested that alternative land be provided to reconstruct houses in areas where the land had become unstable.
He also demanded the settlement of all pending SRO 43 cases in the district in a time-bound manner, as per the directions of the Lieutenant Governor.
