Congress MP’s gold chain snatched during morning walk in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 4: Congress MP Sudha Ramakrishnan has filed a police complaint after her gold chain was allegedly snatched during a morning walk in Delhi’s high-security Chanakyapuri area. The incident reportedly took place near the Polish Embassy while she was walking with DMK MP Rajathi on Monday morning, reports NDTV.

Ramakrishnan, who represents Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu, stated that a man on a scooter, wearing a full-face helmet, approached them from the opposite direction and suddenly snatched her chain. She claimed the impact caused minor injuries to her neck and tore her clothing, though she managed to remain on her feet, reports NDTV.

Following the incident, she approached a mobile patrol unit of the Delhi Police stationed nearby and lodged an initial complaint. She has also written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, under whose jurisdiction Delhi’s law and order falls, expressing concern over the safety of public figures and civilians in a sensitive diplomatic zone like Chanakyapuri. In her letter, the MP described the attack as “shocking” given the proximity to foreign missions and government establishments, and urged authorities to trace the assailant and recover the stolen chain, which she stated was worth over four sovereigns. The police are reportedly investigating the incident. (Source: NDTV)
