Handwara, Jun 14: Police in Handwara, in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School Ashpora and the Excise Department, organised a Cyclothon cum Road Show.

The initiative, as per a statement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, officials, and locals, all united in spreading awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and the need for collective community action. The event aimed to generate awareness among the youth and the general public about the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of collective action in eradicating this social evil.

The Cyclothon commenced from GHSS Ashpora and passed through various key areas of the locality, spreading the message of a drug-free society. Participants carried placards, raised slogans, and engaged with the public to emphasise the need for a vigilant and responsible community effort to curb drug abuse.

Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted the crucial role of educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and civil society in creating awareness and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

The initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of the police and its stakeholders in the ongoing war against drugs, underlining the necessity for sustained awareness and preventive measures at the grassroots level.
