DC Anantnag directs departments to ensure smooth Shab-e-Miraj observance

Anantnag, Jan 14: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syed Fakhr-ud-Din Hamid on Wednesday  directed all concerned departments to put in place adequate arrangements for the smooth observance of Shab-e-Miraj and the Friday following it, officials said.

Chairing a review meeting at Dak Bungalow, Khanabal, the Deputy commissioner- Dr Syed Fakhr-ud-Din Hamid stressed the need for coordinated efforts to facilitate devotees visiting major shrines and mosques across the district.

“All necessary facilities must be ensured for devotees visiting shrines and mosques during the holy days,” Hamid said, emphasizing that arrangements should be made well in advance to avoid inconvenience to the public.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Chief Medical Officer, senior officers from the Power Development Department and Jal Shakti, food safety and transport officials, police and traffic authorities, municipal representatives, and officials of the Waqf Board.

Hamid directed departments to ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply, adequate availability of essential commodities, effective traffic regulation, proper sanitation, healthcare facilities and security arrangements during the observance.

“Departments must maintain close coordination so that services remain uninterrupted,” he said, adding that fire and emergency services should be strategically deployed, particularly around shrines and mosques.

The Deputy Commissioner also ordered special market inspection drives during the holy days to check overpricing and ensure quality of essential items.

Sub-Divisional Magistrates were instructed to closely monitor arrangements in their respective jurisdictions. “SDMs should personally oversee preparations in their areas to ensure the peaceful and seamless observance of Shab-e-Miraj,” Hamid said.
