DGBR calls on CS, briefs about efforts to restore key roads across J&K

Jammu, Sep 4: Director General Border Roads (DGBR) Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan Thursday called on Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and briefed him about the BRO’s war-footing efforts to restore key road links across Jammu and Kashmir in the aftermath of the recent floods.

The Chief Secretary emphasised the urgency of reopening these lifeline roads, appreciated the dedicated efforts of the BRO teams working in challenging conditions, and assured full cooperation from the civil administration to ensure timely restoration of connectivity.

Earlier DGBR inspected the roads affected by the recent unprecedented rains in the Union Territory of J&K.

He visited the two strategically important roads of Ramkot-Ranjit Sagar dam and Basohli-Bani road. Both these roads have suffered extensive damages.

He visited the Pedu Nullah location where two bridges were displaced owing to heavy landslides. He oversaw the construction of diversions being constructed to restore the traffic.

He visited Bhoond at km 47 on Bani-Basohli road, where a significant portion of road was completely washed away in the deluge, which left a gap in the road. He inspected the formation cutting work in constructing an entirely new access alignment to restore the communication.

“During his visit, the DGBR interacted with Darshan Kumar, MLA Basohli and assured him of efforts by BRO to restore road communication at the earliest,” PRO Defence Jammu Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said.
