Srinagar, Aug 2: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Srinagar, Aadil Fareed, inaugurated the Inter-School/District Level Martial Arts Competitions at the Indoor Sports Hall, Polo Ground, Srinagar.
As per a statement, the event, organised under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by the DYSSO Srinagar, featured disciplines such as judo, wushu, taekwondo, and thang-ta, with enthusiastic participation from both boys and girls across all age groups.
Over 200 participants from different parts of Srinagar are taking part in the competitions, which aim to promote physical fitness, discipline, and a drug-free lifestyle among youth.
Fareed was warmly welcomed by DYSSO Srinagar, Ghulam Hassan Lone, along with other senior Youth Services and Sports (YSS) officials. A pledge for a drug-free society was also administered during the event.
The chief guest declared the competitions open and observed various demonstrations by athletes, appreciating their skills and spirit.
He was also briefed on the achievements of Srinagar participants and the department’s future plans to promote sports and wellness among youth.
The competitions will continue until August 12, 2025.
