EPG Convener deliver lecture on Srinagar’s ecology at Amar Singh College

Srinagar, Jun 2: Faiz Ahmad Bakshi, Convener of the Environmental Policy Group (EPG), delivered a presentation on “Srinagar’s Ecology in the Regional Context of Kashmir” at the valedictory session of the One-Day National Conference on “Sustainable Srinagar: Building Resilience in Fragile Ecosystems,” held at Amar Singh College, Srinagar.

The conference was organised under the framework of Mission Viksit Bharat 2047 and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Government of India.

Speaking in Kashmiri, Bakshi highlighted the ecological challenges facing Srinagar and emphasised the need to view the city’s environmental issues within the larger regional context of Kashmir. His address focused on the urgency of preserving natural ecosystems and integrating sustainability into urban planning.

The event was attended by students and faculty and featured several notable dignitaries including Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner & Additional Chief Secretary, J&K; Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, J&K; Prof. Seema Naaz, Nodal Principal, Kashmir Division Colleges; Prof. Aijaz Ahmad Hakak, Principal, Amar Singh College; Prof. Wilayat Hussain Rizvi, Registrar, Cluster University Srinagar; Prof. Khurshid Ahmad Mir, Controller, Cluster University; Feroze Ahmad Wani, Chairman, Human Welfare Organisation; and Dr. Shabnum Ara, Head of the Department of Sociology at Amar Singh College, who also served as the event convener.
