Shopian, May 26: A portion of the Jamia Sirajul-Uloom, a prominent educational institute in the Imamsahab area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, was damaged in a fire incident on Monday evening.
An official said the fire broke out around 5:20 pm, causing damage to the roof of the institute. Fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and managed to bring the flames under control. Personnel from the army and police also assisted in the firefighting operation, the official added.
According to the official, all the students were safely evacuated before the fire brought under control. “A teacher identified as Riyaz Ahmad suffered injuries in the incident”, said the official.
