Srinagar, Nov 22: Former Minister and Apni Party senior vice president, Ghulam Hassan Mir, today extended heartfelt thanks to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for reopening the Drang tourist destination, a long-pending demand of local stakeholders whose livelihoods were severely impacted by the closure.

In a statement issued, Mir said that the decision has brought much-needed relief to hundreds of families dependent on tourism in the area. “The reopening of Drang is a welcome and timely step. I am truly thankful to the LG Manoj Sinha for addressing the genuine concerns of the people and supporting those whose bread and butter comes from this sector,” he stated.

At the same time, Mir strongly urged the administration to immediately open all other closed tourist destinations, including Gogaldara, Baderkot, Doodhpathri, Botapathri Gulmarg, and Shranz Fall Babareshi, to ensure balanced tourism growth and revival of the local economy.

“Tourism is the backbone of our region. Any prolonged closures directly push stakeholders into distress. We cannot allow avoidable delays to harm the livelihoods of our people. I appeal to the administration to expedite the opening of all remaining destinations without any further delay,” Mir emphasized.

Reaffirming his commitment, Ghulam Hassan Mir assured the stakeholders that he will continue to raise their issues at every platform and stand firmly with them until every destination is reopened and tourism is fully revived. (KNS)
