Srinagar, May 14: Minister of Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo said on Wednesday that Omar Abdullah-led elected government is committed to provide better healthcare services at all Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) across Jammu and Kashmir.
She was responding to queries by reporters in south Kashmir’s Anantnag.
“This is the commitment of Omar Abdullah-led government that be it the sector of education, health or road, whatever promises we have made with our people, will be addressed and fulfilled,” Sakina Itoo said.
She said the way health department of Jammu and Kashmir is working and developing under the dynamic leadership of chief minister Omar Abdullah, is laudable. She said district hospitals like Anantnag is being fully equipped with machinery so that patients do not suffer for better healthcare services.
When asked about the deputation of staff from far off areas, the health minister admitted that the constituencies have been divided into three parts which forced the government to call staff from far off places to district hospitals and other vital health facilities. “This issue is a matter of concern for the government and it will be looked into to ensure smooth patient care at all health centers across Jammu and Kashmir,” health minister said.
“Since Omar Abdullah-led government is in place, lots of issues have been addressed, and still more is required to do in health sector. Cath Labs should be established at every GMC in Jammu and Kashmir, and the government is working on it. Besides the dearth of doctors needs to be addressed for better patient care and wellbeing of people,” she said.
“Besides the upgradation of hospitals will be done once the process is taken up,” health minister Sakina Itoo added.
