Bandipora, 19 May: Following the night of fast winds and thunderstorms, parts of north Kashmir’s Bandipora was battered by afternoon hailstorm on Monday.
The areas included villages like Onagam, and several other villages, where vast fields are spread by apple orchards and other fruits.
The locals said that the heavy hail continued for several minutes, devastating the crop in these areas.
Other areas in Bandipora also received heavy rains followed by hail.
In Gurez too, where agriculture activities are at its prime, huge hail storm surprised locals.
Ajaz Ahmad from Gurez’s Dawar said, inches of hail turned Gurez white, something which he said is not normal there.
