Anantnag, May 23: Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo on Friday announced major upgrades to the healthcare infrastructure in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, including the establishment of oxygen plants, blood banks, and dialysis facilities.
Itoo made the announcement during her visit to several health facilities in the Kokernag area, where she reviewed the functioning and infrastructure of these institutions. “The significant upgrades—including the establishment of an oxygen plant, blood bank, and dialysis facilities—will be undertaken at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kokernag in the coming months,” Itoo said while inspecting the hospital. “These improvements aim to enhance medical services and ensure access to better healthcare for the local population.” The minister toured the hospital, assessed the available facilities, and inspected various departments.
She also interacted with staff and patients, gathering feedback on the quality of services. Itoo later visited Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in Larnoo, Gadole, and Wandevelgam, where she evaluated healthcare delivery and infrastructure. She held discussions with local health workers and officials on strategies to improve accessibility and service quality.
