Indian soldiers’ courage, spirit truly humbling: Dr Jitendra

Jammu, May 25: Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh Sunday met soldiers, who were recently injured in action along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC) and described their courage and spirit as awe-inspiring.

What stood out during his visit to Military Hospital Satwari on the outskirts of Jammu, the Minister said, was the “unwavering will-power of the soldiers, many of whom had already begun recovering and were preparing to return to duty.”

“Their injuries were varied, but their resolve was common – to serve the country without hesitation,” Dr Jitendra said, adding, “Many of them, despite suffering serious injuries, expressed a fierce determination to return to the frontlines. The morale of these soldiers was not just high—it was inspiring.”

The Union Minister said that the soldiers, most of whom belonged to the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF), conveyed a heartfelt message for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“They said they are ready to go back and fight the enemy till the last breath,” Dr Jitendra said, while speaking to media persons after the visit. “Their courage and spirit were truly humbling. The nation is eternally indebted to them,” he said.

Dr Jitendra, who is also the Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Science and Technology; Earth Sciences besides being the Minister of State for PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, also gave a fruit basket to each of the injured.

He also praised the role of the medical team at the hospital, led by Brigadier Dr Fayaz Ahmad. “The precision and promptness with which the team acted saved several lives. Their efforts ensured that many of these brave-hearts are now even fit to get back to the field,” Dr Jitendra said.

The Minister emphasised that the medical personnel not only treated physical wounds but also uplifted the soldiers’ morale, helping them regain strength and confidence.
