Srinagar, Oct 1: Jammu and Kashmir Bank celebrated its 88th Foundation Day today with a commemorative function held at the Bank’s Corporate Headquarters in Srinagar. The event was chaired by Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Amitava Chatterjee and attended by Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, General Managers, Deputy General Managers, and other senior officers.
At the outset, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee paid glowing tributes to the Bank’s founder, Maharaja Hari Singh, recalling his vision and foresight that laid the foundation for a financial institution now integral to the economic and social transformation of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
“On this auspicious occasion, we pay heartfelt tributes to Late Maharaja Hari Singh Ji, whose vision and foresight established this great institution,” Chatterjee said. “It has been a journey of challenges and successes, and we have walked this path with dedication and focus on growth. The journey so far is only halfway through—the task at hand is to take our Bank to the next level.”
He called upon employees to renew their commitment to the Bank’s founding mission of socio-economic transformation and pledged to place J&K Bank among the top-performing banks in the country. “Let us all commit to making J&K Bank one of the best in India,” he urged.
Acknowledging the contributions of former leaders, Chatterjee expressed gratitude to the J&K Bank family, the UT Government, stakeholders, and customers. “Their trust and emotional equity remain the bedrock of our journey towards excellence,” he said.
To mark the occasion, the MD & CEO launched Yadoon Ki Jama Poonji – Season II, a special audio-visual series celebrating the Bank’s enduring bond with its customers and employees. He also unveiled a revamped e-newsletter, the Bank’s internal communication platform. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of J&K Bank family members who passed away, especially those who died in the line of duty.
Earlier in the day, the Bank’s top management participated in a cleanliness drive under the nationwide campaign Sewa Parv 2025 – Together for a Cleaner and Prosperous Nation. Led by Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, senior officers cleaned the surroundings of a water channel near the Corporate Headquarters.
“Cleanliness is not just a responsibility but an expression of service to our community,” Gupta said. “As the premier financial institution of the region, it is our privilege to contribute not only financially but also socially and environmentally.”
Similar cleanliness drives were organised across the Bank’s operational geographies as part of its contribution to the national campaign for environmental care.
The Foundation Day concluded with a collective pledge by the leadership and staff to uphold the institution’s core values while embracing innovation and inclusivity in delivering financial services.
