Srinagar, Nov 11: Kashmir’s speed skaters won eight medals at the J&K UT Roller Skating Championship 2025 held at M A Stadium in Jammu from November 4 to 7.
As per a statement issued on Tuesday, the championship was organised by the J&K Roller Skating Association, in which around 200 skaters across the UT participated. Armeen Sheikh of Mallinson Girls School won three gold medals, Mohammed Zaeem Kak of Kashmir Harvard won two gold and one silver medal, and Hooriyah Showkat of Green Valley won two silver medals.
All these skaters, for their outstanding performance, are likely to participate in the 63rd National Roller-Skating Championship 2025 to be held at Vishakhapatnam from 5th to 15th December 2025.
The statement added that Kashmir roller speed skaters raised concerns over the non-availability of a professional skating track in the valley and said this was the main reason Kashmir skaters bagged 8 medals while all medals went to Jammu skaters, stating that they had a proper speed skating track and ring there.
