KTMF welcomes Budget, seeks holistic support for MSMEs

Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) has welcomed the budget presented today in the Legislative Assembly by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, describing it as a constructive move aimed at addressing the prevailing economic challenges in J&K.

In a statement issued here, KTMF President Mohammad Yaseen Khan said the budget demonstrates an understanding of the difficulties faced by traders, manufacturers and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in the aftermath of prolonged economic stress.

He noted that most of the key suggestions submitted by KTMF and other trade bodies have been accommodated, which reflects a positive approach by the government towards stakeholder engagement. However, he added that the Federation believes all practical and genuine suggestions should have been implemented to provide stronger and more comprehensive relief to the business community.

“The direction and intent of the budget are encouraging, especially for MSMEs which form the backbone of Kashmir’s economy. At the same time, the success of these measures will depend entirely on effective, transparent and time-bound implementation,” Khan said.

KTMF stressed that continued policy support, ease of doing business, improved access to finance, and infrastructure strengthening are essential to ensure that the benefits announced in the budget reach traders and MSMEs at the grassroots level.

The Federation expressed hope that the government will address the remaining concerns of the trade and MSME sector through supplementary measures and sustained dialogue during the financial year.
