KVMT launches Kunwar Viyogi’s patriotic song

Jammu, Jun 30: Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust (KVMT), in collaboration with J&K Ex-Servicemen League and Dogri Sanstha, has launched its first ever patriotic song in Dogri, Hindi and English – Kunwar Viyogi’s “Jai Dogra” – celebrating valorous identity of the community.

“Honouring Mahavir Chakra awardee Brigadier Rajinder Singh Jamwal, referred to as “The saviour of Kashmir”, the song sung by Riaz Ahmed, a BSF soldier is inspired from patriotic fervour of Kunwar Viyogi’s “Ghar” couplets.

Objective is to infuse a sense of pride for their valorous identity and patriotism among Dogra community, particularly the youth,” said Poonam Singh Jamwal, while speaking to media, following the event held at Kunwar Viyogi Auditorium, Dogri Sanstha, Karan Nagar Jammu on Saturday i.e., June 28, 2025. Poonam is Trust founder and the daughter of Sahitya Akademi award winning poet Randhir Singh, widely known as Kunwar Viyogi in literary circles. “Brij Mohan, renowned music director has translated the lyrics from Dogri to Hindi and composed the song. We hope it will reach a wider audience,” she stated.

The event also featured a panel discussion on “Operation Gulmarg to Sindoor – How valour forged Naya Bharat.” Moderated by renowned TV anchor and producer Ayushman Singh Jamwal of CNN-News18, the panel discussion saw veteran decorated soldiers Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (retired); Lieutenant General Rakesh Sharma (retired); Brigadier Anil Gupta (retired); Col K S Jamwal (retired) and Col Ajay K Raina (retired) sharing their viewpoint as panelists.
