Srinagar, Sep 4: Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Housing & Urban Development Department (HUDD), Mandeep Kaur reviewed the flood situation in Srinagar

Kaur carried out an extensive tour to flood alert areas, with a special focus on Zoonipora and Tengan, situated on the peripheries of Srinagar, where a bund breach had occurred. She assessed the prevailing flood situation.

Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by Faz Lul Haseeb, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), along with other senior officers. During the visit to the location where the breach happened, she reviewed water levels at critical locations and also interacted with the landowners whose land was inundated after the breach.

The Commissioner, SMC, briefed the Commissioner Secretary on the measures being undertaken by the Corporation, including deployment of men and machinery at vulnerable points to tackle waterlogging. Reiterating the Government’s commitment, the Commissioner Secretary assured that all necessary support will be extended and that the situation will continue to be closely monitored to ensure public safety.

On Wednesday evening. Kaur had visited the Flood Monitoring Centre at Ram Munshi Bagh to review preparedness in view of the rising water levels in river Jhelum and its tributaries.
