Aizawl, Oct 13: Amit Sharma, Secretary, Information, Communications and Technology Department, Government of Mizoram, chaired a meeting to review the implementation timelines of the Mizo Fibre Grid Network (MFGN) Project, being executed by Railtel.
The project aims to establish a state-wide Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) network across all eleven districts of Mizoram. Railtel officials presented the proposed timelines and scope of work, which were reviewed by Sharma, who advised adjustments considering the state’s extended monsoon season.
Sharma emphasized close coordination between Railtel, ZENICS, and the Power & Electricity Department, whose infrastructure will support the fibre grid rollout. He also directed weekly progress reports to be submitted to ZENICS and announced quarterly reviews to be chaired by him. The Railtel team assured that multiple field teams will be deployed to meet the revised milestones under the supervision of the ICT Department, ensuring the timely completion of the MFGN project.
