Budgam, Feb 5: The District Administration Budgam on Wednesday inaugurated a three-day cultural and heritage workshop titled “Naqsh-e-Meeras”, aimed at promoting, preserving and revitalising the rich traditional art and craft heritage of J&K.
The workshop is being organised from February 5 to 7, 2026, at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Budgam, in collaboration with experts from the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
The event was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Budgam Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat in the presence of senior district officers, artisans, students, Self Help Groups and members of the local community.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said the objective of Naqsh-e-Meeras is to reconnect the younger generation with authentic handcrafted traditions and ensure that local artisans receive the recognition and respect they deserve. He said such initiatives are crucial for preserving traditional knowledge systems that have been passed down through generations.
