Srinagar, Jan 31: Renowned environmentalist and social activist Manzoor Wangnoo has been conferred the Green Hero Award 2026 at the International Conference and Global Leadership Awards held in New Delhi.
The award was presented in recognition of his sustained, community led work in environmental conservation, education, ethical tourism, and social welfare.
Wangnoo, who has worked for over two decades on the revival of degraded lakes and springs in Kashmir, is the Chairman of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation, Nigeen Tourist Traders Association, and Moral Education Environment and Relief Council of private schools association JK. Through his flagship initiative Mission Ehsaas, he has led large scale efforts to restore Khushalsar, Gilsar, Nigeen, and other neglected water bodies, while promoting public participation and long term sustainability.
