Baramulla, Jun 15: Amid rising tension and continued conflict between Iran and Israel, several anxious parents in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have urged the Government of India for the immediate evacuation of their children who are currently studying in Iran.

On Sunday evening, a group of distressed parents gathered at Karyappa Park in Baramulla town to voice their growing concern over the safety of their wards.

The visibly disturbed parents urged the central government to act swiftly and bring back the stranded students before the situation in the region worsens further. One of the parent said that thousands of students are right now stranded in iran and are scattered at different places. He said the Indian embassy should at least bring all students at a single place most likely at the indian embassy before the evacuation process takes place. “The situation in Iran is worsening with each passing day. The students are fearing the worst to come. The GOI must take immediate action and evacuate the stranded students and before that bring them at a single location in the indian embassy” said one of the protesting parents. Parents said their children are pursuing various courses in different educational institutions across Iran and mostly in Tehran city , and have been stuck there since the conflict between Iran and Israel started. The parents have urged Ministry of External Affairs and other concerned authorities to expedite efforts and coordinate with the Indian Embassy in Iran to organize the safe return of the stranded students.
