New Delhi, Dec 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep grief over the passing of P G Baruah, Editor and Managing Director of The Assam Tribune Group, one of the most influential newspapers of Assam and widely read across the North Eastern states. In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister said he was saddened by the demise of PG Baruah, recalling his significant contribution to the media.
PM Modi noted that the veteran editor was deeply committed to Assam’s progress and played an important role in promoting the state’s rich culture. “My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister said. Baruah’s passing has been widely mourned across journalistic, political and social circles in the region, with tributes highlighting his role in strengthening responsible journalism in the Northeast.
Home Minister Amit Shah also condoled the demise of PG Baruah the editor and managing director of The Assam Tribune group. In a post on ‘X’ Amit Shah said “Pained by the demise of PG Baruah Ji, the editor and managing director of The Assam Tribune group. His efforts to ensure that issues reach the common people and promote Assam’s culture through journalism will continue to inspire people. Sincerest condolences to his family members, The Assam Tribune Group, and his admirers.”
