Srinagar, Dec 04: In continuation of its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized 06 vehicles involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals in Shopian and Pulwama.

In Shopian, during routine patrolling, a police team from Police Post Keegam intercepted one Dumper & Two JCBs found indulging in illegal mining activities In Keegam area, without valid royalty documents. Accordingly, FIR No. 260/2025 has been registered at Police Station Shopian under relevant provisions of law, police in a statement said.

In Pulwama, during the routine patrolling, a police team from Police Station Litter seized one JCB, one dumper, and one tractor involved in unauthorized soil extraction at Astanpora Litter. All seized machinery has been taken into custody. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 105/2025 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3 of the PDPP Act stands registered at Police Station Litter. Further investigation has been initiated.

Police urged the general public to refrain from unlawful extraction and to cooperate with authorities in protecting the environment and community interests.

J&K Police remains committed to maintaining strict vigilance and ensuring that mining regulations are enforced without compromise, the statement reads.
