New Delhi, Aug 16: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday announced the launch of the “Vote Adhikar Yatra” in Bihar, aimed at protesting the Election Commission’s special intensive revision of electoral rolls ahead of the state assembly elections. The yatra, beginning Sunday from Sasaram, will cover over 20 districts in 16 days with support from Mahagathbandhan allies.
The opposition has described the voter list revision as an attempt to disenfranchise citizens and termed it “Votebandi.” Tensions escalated earlier this month when Gandhi accused the Election Commission of colluding with the BJP, citing data from Karnataka.
The poll body rejected the allegations and asked him to submit a formal affidavit, which he declined.
