SC flags ‘serious concern’ over airfare surge during festivals

New Delhi, Feb 23: The Supreme Court of India on Monday termed the fluctuation in airfares and additional charges imposed by private airlines during festive seasons and holidays a “serious concern”, reported Bar & Bench. A Bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta made the observation while hearing a plea seeking regulatory guidelines to curb unpredictable airfare pricing. “This is a very serious concern. Otherwise, we don’t entertain 32 petition,” the Court remarked. The Centre informed the Court that the issue is being examined at the highest level and sought four weeks to file a response. The matter has been posted for further hearing on March 23.
