Srinagar, Nov 19: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 87/2022 under Sections 209, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, in connection with a high-profile record tampering case involving the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).
The chargesheet names Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan of Takia Khan Sopore, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather of Ali Bagh Hygam Sopore, Mudasir Yousuf Wani of Tujjar Sharief Sopore, Ghulam Mohammad Reshi of Yamberzal Wani Sopore, Bashir Ahmad Dar of Bonpora Nowpora Sopore, and Anoop Mishra of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, presently residing near the DC Office Jammu.
The case originated from a communication by the office of the Chief Horticulture Officer, which flagged suspected tampering of documents submitted before CAT in TA No. 4100/2021. Following this, the EOW registered a formal case and began an investigation.
During the probe, officials found that documents submitted before CAT Srinagar had been unlawfully altered while in the tribunal’s custody. Investigators concluded that the prime accused, Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, in criminal conspiracy with CAT employee Anoop Mishra and other beneficiary employees, had made unauthorised insertions in records related to their regularisation in the Horticulture Department.
Searches led to the recovery of at least twelve official seals of various departments and institutions — including those of the Director Horticulture, BDO, Tehsildar, ZEO, school principals and headmasters — from the residence of Majid Khan. Digital evidence, including Call Detail Records and WhatsApp conversations retrieved from his mobile phone, further corroborated the conspiracy and the role of CAT employee Anoop Mishra.
The chargesheet has now been submitted before the court for judicial determination.
