Srinagar-Jammu NH remains open for 2-way traffic

Ramban, Aug 1: Despite light rain at isolated places between Udhampur and Banihal sectors on Friday morning the only all-weather road connectivity connecting valley Kashmir with the rest of the country, Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic.

Traffic authorities monitoring regulation of traffic in Ramban said that despite light rain that lashed between Udhampur -Banihal sectors hundreds of light, medium and heavy vehicles plied towards their respective destinations without any interruption.

However they said the traffic movement remained slow due to single lane road stretches at Dalwass, and between Maroog and Kishtwari Pathar sector between Nashri and Banihal.

They further said traffic movement remained slow due to breakdown of few heavy vehicles besides ongoing four-lane construction work at different locations between Nashri and Banihal on National 44.

Officials at the Traffic Control Unit. Ramban, late Friday evening said that Srinagar Jammu National 44, is open for two-way traffic. They said subject to fair weather and better road conditions passenger light medium vehicles, vehicles carrying Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will be allowed to ply on either side on Saturday.
